This ice rod combo is designed for modern ice fishing. The blade on the rod is made of fiberglass and is flat with a strong spine and a very soft tip that acts as an indicator and registers at the slightest bite.
The Aapua reel in the medium size has a powerful brake but also an adjustable friction brake which means that even the lightest bait will cause the line to leave the reel when released. Pike, spinner, balance pike and mormyska are excellent to fish with this combo.
